He was obviously shopping for new decor for the Death Star. He and Mrs Vader have probably had the same curtains since the 70's and all her nagging (combined with the force) finally broke him down. Oh to have such powers! Can you imagine???
"You WILL buy new curtains!"
"You WILL pick up your wet towels off the bathroom floor."
"You WILL tolerate my mother when she comes to the Death Star for a 10-day visit."
"Ok, well at least pick up the wet towels..."
